From Rosie

This is my first time writing in the school blog, so I’ll start with a little bit about myself.

I’m from an island called the Isle of Skye, in Scotland. It’s a very small, quiet place, so quite different to life here in Tokyo! I love the bustling atmosphere in Tokyo, but sometimes I miss the quiet of home. Whenever I feel like that I always take advantage of the amazing efficiency of trains in Japan, and I head for the hills! I love hiking so I’m trying to go up as many of Japan’s mountains as I can whilst I’m here. I’m going to climb Mount Fuji this weekend. Wish me luck!

One thing I’ve found that I love about Japan is the food. Before I came here, the only Japanese foods that I knew about were sushi and ramen. Now that I’m here I’m discovering so many Japanese foods that I’d never heard of before that I now love! I’m trying to eat all the local delights that I know I won’t ever be able to get at home, like natto! I’m on a natto-a-day diet!

Something that I’m not used to is the heat! I’m quite enjoying it so far, but we’ll see how I feel at the end of the summer! Scotland is quite a cold place normally, but it is actually having a heat wave at the moment, with temperatures similar to what we’re having here in Tokyo. Normally the highest temperature in Scotland in summer would be around 28 degrees, but they’ve just had a week with a record high of 35!

Enjoy the summer sun everyone!
